COMPANY
CEDRATCEDRAT Group provides innovative solutions in the electrical and mecatronic markets, ranging from software tools, to research and design, to precision products. CEDRAT is well known, especially in Europe, for its FLUX finite element analysis software for electromagnetic and thermal simulation.

CHALLENGE
CEDRAT has more than 1000 customers, each with varying numbers of seats. Since FLUX is so versatile, it finds use across heavy industries such as energy, aeronautics, and defense, as well as manufacturing for household goods and appliances. In large industries such as these, there is a natural cross-pollination of CAD and CAM formats, which demand a higher level of interoperability. With the addition of high-quality translators, CEDRAT could improve its FLUX end user experience by:

  • speeding model handling and through-put with higher levels of format compatibility and geometric healing;
  • allowing reduction in time to market by facilitating better communication between software; and
  • enabling engineers to simulate more physical domains.

SOLUTION
CEDRAT opted to implement Spatial’s InterOp translators in FLUX, choosing solutions for CATIA V4 and V5, PRO/E, Inventor, as well as the STEP and IGES standards. Spatial’s InterOp architecture sets it above other data translation offerings by including healing and other advanced tools, such as assembly management and stitching. “This partnership enabled us to provide advanced import capabilities to our customers with a development time of a few months, while we would have needed years to develop the same tools ourselves. It opens as well new markets for our main product FLUX, such as the computation of electrostatic and dielectric behaviors, where the complexity of shapes and devices makes essential advanced import capabilities,” said Marc Vilcot, Sales Director of CEDRAT.

BENEFITS
Spatial’s InterOp solution enabled CEDRAT to produce advanced import solutions for its customers that are widely used and validated. Spatial continually updates the translators to map to the latest releases of the various translated formats, ensuring accuracy. This allows CEDRAT to focus on the core physics aspects of its application. In addition, by providing greater flexibility and performance within FLUX, InterOp delivers greater value to CEDRAT’s customers and brings greater appeal to a broader range of markets.
